Development of surface water quality in selected rural areas of the Elbe River basin
Mrkva, Luboš ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Pechar, Libor (referee) ; Kodeš, Vít (referee)
Development of surface water quality in selected rural areas of the Elbe River basin Water quality is an enduring issue in water management and has global importance. This work deals with surface water quality in the Elbe River basin, focusing on river basins in agricultural and rural areas where surface water quality remains a significant ecological problem. As part of this work, two watersheds with a significant representation of agriculturally used areas were chosen: the Mastník River catchment, which flows into the Vltava River, and the Šlapanka River catchment, which flows into the Sázava River. In the case of the Mastník stream, the work deals with the basin itself and changes in water quality in the Mastník bay, which is part of the Slapy reservoir located on the Vltava River. Water quality was analysed using the concentration of selected parameters through long-term field research supplemented with data from the State Enterprise of the Vltava River basin. In this part, it was proved that constructing new wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) gradually improves the overall water quality. However, the parameter chlorophyll-α and the lack of dissolved oxygen remain problematic. The finding of high concentrations of chlorophyll in the stream is followed by an assessment of the changes in water quality in...
Development of Nutrient and Pesticide Concentrations in the Sázavka River and Their Changes in Connection with the Rainfall-runoff Regime
Pavlíková, Anna ; Havlíková, Petra (advisor) ; Matoušková, Milada (referee)
This bachelor thesis aims to study the selected parameters and nutrients of water quality in relation to the rainfall-runoff regime in the Sázavka River basin. The rainfall-runoff regime is influenced by many factors, including the climate change, which has received more and more attention in recent years. These changes may have a consequential impact on the quality of surface waters. In the first part of this paper selected parameters of water quality are presented. The aim was to try to understand their behaviour under the changing water flow dynamics. For this purpose, Czech and foreign literature was used. In this thesis there are also presented the most common statistical methods that are used in analysing geochemical parameters. The second part of this paper deals with the changes of climate- hydrological characteristics (air temperature, precipitation, snow cover and flow), the analysis of nutrients (forms of nitrogen and phosphorus) and physical parameters (water temperature and electrolytic conductivity). Lastly, metabolites of herbicides that ware above the detection limit in the watershed (acetochlor ESA, alachlor ESA, dimethachlor ESA and metolachlor ESA) were assessed. The analysis used some of the methods introduced in the research section. The regression analysis, correlation...
Lokalizační faktory vybrané komerční vybavenosti na venkově
Šmíd, Ladislav
ŠMÍD, L. Locational factors of selected commercial amenities in rural areas. Master thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2022 The thesis deals with the topic of rural development and takes a closer look at small retail outlets in rural areas. The aim of this thesis is to identify the locational factors of small rural convenience stores based on literature and own research. The research is based on demographic, socio-economic and spatial analysis, based on which the villages without convenience stores in the selected region are spatially identified. This is followed by a comparison of the villages, which is complemented by semi-structured interviews. Finally, a synthesis and interpretation is made and some locational factors of rural convenience stores are identified.
Differentiation of Local Elites Stability in Municipalities and Micro-regions in the South Bohemia Region
Řezníčková, Pavla ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Váně, Petr (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is internal differentiation of South Bohemia region. Mainly this work is considering possibilities of rating the regional differentiation of rural areas in terms of stability of local elites and to attest newly created methodology of rating the stability of local elites in the region. Based on this rating was found that in the model area of South Bohemia region the stability of local elites is territorially differentiated in dichotomy of continually developing inland versus borderland inhabited after the second world war. The main result of this work is relationship of differentiation of local elites with settlement structure. Key words: Development of the rural regions - periphery/core - rural areas - local players - elites
Selected problems of the rural delimitation
Bednářová, Hana ; Perlín, Radim (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
This work is an attempt to define an alternative definition of rural as compared with the OECD methodology applied to the NUTS 3 units. In the specific nature of the Czech population is necessary to use other methods of defining rural. Bibliography outlines other possible ways of definic, as a empirical research reflects a descriptive approach to the definition of rural based on statistical indicators which are assessed in seven groups. The results are shown in the cartograms. Differences between rural and urban areas are in the Czech Republic according to the chosen methodology very small or not visible. Countryside as defined by statistical indicators have shown similar results as the definition of internal peripherals. The chosen method for the identification is very difficult and demanding. The results are largely influenced by the threshold value for each indicator. Keywords: delimination, country, rural, delimitation, rural areas
Factors that influence the use of rainwater harvesting systems for domestic drinking water consumption in rural areas of developing countries
Cahlíková, Markéta ; Novotný, Josef (advisor) ; Lungová, Kristýna (referee)
This thesis discusses rainwater harvesting systems (RWH systems). It particularly focuses on systems collecting rainwater for domestic consumption in rural areas of developing countries. The main aim of the thesis is to identify factors, which influence the willingness and ability of people to adopt and use properly these RWH systems. I began with a brief introduction into the topic of the good-quality drinking water scarcity and with a discussion of relevant information about the RWH systems. The method used for the research was a systematic review. The relevant literature was systematically searched, selected, evaluated, and the relevant material was then processed with regards to the importance of particular factors influencing the RWH systems adption and utilization. Altogether, 26 influential factors were identified and discussed.
New Ruralism as an Inspiration for Czech Rural Planning
Petr, Lukáš
New Ruralism represents an effort to extend the familiar principles of New Urbanism to non-urban areas with an emphasis on farmland protection. Various sources dealing with New Ruralism (mainly from the North American context) were analyzed using the desk research method. The regulatory and economic instruments of land development were described in detail. Using the example of New Ruralism, it was shown that economic instruments can appropriately complement standard landuse planning instruments even in the case of rural and agricultural planning. This finding can be an inspiration for rural planning in our environment.

Character and Reasons for the migration of the population in the peripheral northwestern part of South Bohemia
STAŇKOVÁ, Karolína
The thesis is concerned with migratory movements in a defined peripheral regions in the northwestern part of South Bohemia in the period 1991-2015. Thesis also evaluates development of internal migration of rural communities in the specific region. The thesis defines the basic concepts, processes, and other important terms related to migration. The following chapter deals with the delimitation of migration region and describes methodological procedures which were used in the thesis. The main part is the third chapter, which describes the development and characterizes migration in a defined region, the population movement and counterurbanization trends. It also includes an analysis of fieldwork, which is focused on finding the reasons for moving inhabitants to selected municipalities in the peripheral area.
